Mapping Workshop of Brussels’ community gardens 14:00-16:00
Where to find a community garden in Brussels? That is the question that gave rise to a project to map out and network community gardens. Workers’ gardens, teaching gardens for schools, social integration gardens or collective gardens, Brussels knows a wide variety of community gardens. An increasing number of citizens is concerned about their links with nature and the origin of their food. However, an increasing amount of arable land is threatened by real estate development. This mapping project aims at raising awareness, to connect and mobilize users of community as well as those interested, in order to protect these last remaining spaces of food production in the city. Concretely, an open source interactive map of Brussels’ urban gardeners will soon be available online.
